Demographics and Psychographics

  1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience?   A demographic audience profile defines groups based on things like age, gender, income, education and occupation  2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? Audience profiling help you unlock new insights about your target audience to map into new business opportunities that drive your marketing strategy forward.  3) What are the seven different Psychographic groups?  - The Aspirer (status brands, stylish, on trend, seek status  - The Explorer (new things, innovative brands, new experiences) - The Reformer ( self-improvement, not materialistic, socially aware) - The Mainstreamers ( they make up to 40% of the population) - The Succeeder   ( best brands and products, seek control)

Stranger Things

1-    Choose   THREE  aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for   each  about the   denotation  and  connotation  and what is communicated to the audience. Costume: The character at the start is wearing a white lab coat. This suggests to the audience that he could be a scientist or a doctor Lighting: The lighting suggest that its really dark and it has only black light  Setting: the setting is real dark and I think its a serious scene  Props: lights, bicycles  Actor placement/movement/expression: serious faces, scary faces, loads of running, happy faces, loads of different places, house. lab, office

denotation & connotation

What can you see? What are the deeper meanings in the advert? What does the advert communicate to the audience? How might an audience react after seeing the advert? 1) I can see a young boy outside looking upset and maybe he needs help because maybe he's  poor or needs something. the audience might react being  sad or feel bad for him. (sorry for him) 1- In this advert I can see a McDonald image with the container of the fries filled up with vegetables instead of fries. this suggests that I think maybe they are saying kids should healthy food instead of unhealthy food because its not good for them 

DOCTOR WHO

  1) Pick  three  camera  shots  from the Doctor Who scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience. 1- close up shot (0.30) her face expression is quite serious. I think she might be scared or worried that maybe something bad is going or has happened. 2- medium shot (0.01) her face expression is quite serious and a bit happy at the same time. I think she might be serious about the passport or ID that she is holding in her hand but maybe at the same time it could be something important like evidence. 3-  medium close up (1:50) his face expression is quite serious and he looks confused.
